Nova BioEnergy is tackling one of Australia’s most destructive environmental crises, the unchecked infestation of Prickly Acacia. This invasive species has decimated over 23 million hectares of North Queensland's prime agricultural grasslands, degrading biodiversity, choking out native grasses, and rendering once-productive rangelands virtually unusable.
We’re pioneering a practical solution, harvesting the weed and converting it into a carbon-neutral fuel. Through torrefaction, a clean thermal process, we’re able to transform the woody biomass into energy-dense, coal-compatible pellets. This carbon-smart innovation restores land, offers a powerful tool in the fight against climate change, and creates a scalable clean energy export opportunity for Australia.
With over a decade of R&D and support from local government, landholders, Aboriginal land councils and environmental groups, we’re delivering a practical and pioneering response to a national problem. This will support farmers, regional economies, and a shift to cleaner, more resilient energy systems, positioning Australia as a leader in circular, climate-smart innovation.

See how we’re reclaiming land, restoring livelihoods, and powering a cleaner future.
